ACCORDIONS

1. How do you tune an accordion?

Accordions are tuned on a tuning table. Here the reed blocks are set over a hole and air is pumped through the reed and if it is sharp the tuner files a bit of metal off the bottom of the reed; if the reed is flat he files the tip.

2. How can I tell if an accordion is any good?

Play each note in and out to check the tuning and if there are any noises, then make sure there aren't any air leaks from the bellows.

3. Does it matter how old my accordion is?

The newer the accordion, the better, however, if properly cared for accordions will last a lifetime with little or no repair.

4. Where in the house should I keep my accordion?

Keep your accordion in a dry, stable environment (not in the basement or attic).

5. How many different kinds of accordions are there?

There are basically three different kinds of accordions, the Piano Accordion, the Chromatic (all buttons) Accordion and the Diatonic Accordion.
